Procrastination
Starting Monday, I am going to hit the gym. I will begin to read those books next week onwards. How many Mondays have passed since then? When will next that week be?
Do you make such kind of commitments to yourself? What is this pattern? The habit of delaying the task to some other time reflects procrastination. It usually occurs either you got the other higher priority task or you are lazy.
Once I heard somewhere that if you plan to do a task and start it within 5 seconds of that thought, you can avoid procrastinating it. I tried it two-three times, and it works. But the idea behind overcoming this pattern it is your wariness. If you don’t come out of dormancy, you will keep deferring the task again and again. Hence the basic idea is to get out of your relaxation zone and barricade procrastination.
